S4-6 pupils (including some S3 pupils) have received details of their forthcoming prelims which start on January 16th through to January 31st (inclusive). These are key exams to prepare pupils for the SQA exams in May. Supported study sessions are available; information from John Chalmers on request.
The final deadline for UCAS applications is 15th January, and we strongly advise pupils to have completed their applications and passed them to guidance before the Christmas holidays where possible.
The music department have been busy preparing for and holding concerts in the run-up to the festive season. A Christmas Sing-Along was held on Tuesday 20th December in Aid of MacMillan Hospice, along with a steel band performance at the airport. The steel band will also perform in aid of Riding for the Disabled on Wednesday 22nd at Sainsbury’s.
The long-awaited Christmas dance season is in full-flow with both the S1/2 dance on Thursday 15.12.11 and the S3/4 dance on Monday 19.12.11 being enjoyed by all. The Senior Dance is on Wednesday 21.12.11.
Highland News Trip
A small group of senior pupils took part in a visit to the Highland News on Thursday 15.12.11 to learn about the production of the paper. The pupils heard from editors, writers, photographers, and marketing staff and visited the printing press in Dingwall to see the papers roll off the press. Later in the year, they hope to take part in writing a page for the paper.
Congratulations to Kirsten Scott and the Young Enterprise group who have successfully marketed their product, and the Green Fingers Company, to raise £176. They were awarded the Mr Shopper Prize, Most Educational Product award, and were pleased to see they sold out.
Art and a Tart
Thank you to the art department who held an exhibition viewing complete with mince pie and coffee for staff on Wednesday 14.12.11. They raised over a £100 for a cancer charity.
